Kizimkazi Zanzibar is officially Kizimkazi Mkunguni, but also known as Kizimkazi Mtendeni is a fishing village on the southern coast of Zanzibar, Tanzania, and was once a walled city. It is situated three miles southeast of the Kizimkazi Mosque.

Bottlenose Dolphins
Kizimkazi is a popular place on the island to spot dolphins in their natural habitat, watch and swim with them. There is a dolphin area on the beach where you can snorkel with the dolphins.
Kiwengwa Caves
There are two caves of Kiwengwa feature a variety of insects with five kinds of bats. It’s located on the east coast of the island, several kilometers from Kizmkazi. If you love exploring caves, this is a unique holiday experience for you.
Prison Island
Take a day trip to Prison Island to see the ancient-old Aldabra tortoises, which were donated by the government of Seychelles to the sultan of Zanzibar. The island is located close to the Stone Town, and you’ll have the opportunity to see the ruins of the old prison, that was once used for rebellious slaves, and later a quarantine center for British territory of East Africa.
Zanzibar has a tropical climate and can be visited year-round. But for a sunny experience, it is best to avoid the rainy seasons from mid-March to the end of May and then the ‘short rains’ November.
If you visit Zanzibar specifically for diving, it is good to know the diving on the north coast is excellent from June to October, and the south coast is best between November and March.
