Ruaha National Park, the less visited South, lies deep in the South with its striking, rugged landscapes and abundant wildlife. The great Ruaha River that provides life to the park, flows through the eastern side of the park and is home to hippos, crocodiles and the bird count is over 400 species of birds such as Racket Tailed Roller, Pale billed Hornbill, Shelley’s Sunbird and Hoopoes. Ruaha providing home to one of Tanzania’s largest elephant populations, famous for pride of lions, giraffe, grant’s gazelles, Leopard, Cheetah, Zebra, Giraffe, Buffallo etc and rare or endangered animals such as Sable Antelope, Greater Kudu & Roan Antelope.
Mikumi National Park ,”The mini Serengeti” The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain the popular center piece of Mikumi. Commonly seen animals are Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Antelope, Wildebeest, Eland, Crocodile, Hippo, Baboon, if you are lucky, won’t miss to see Lion & very lucky to see a Leopard, over 300 spices of birds are seen are saddle bill stork, hammer kop, malachite kingfisher, lilac breasted roller, yellow throated long claw, battler eagle etc. Another attraction: the Hippo Pools, where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range
3 days Mikumi Safari from Dar es Salaam, this short Safari is perfect for travelers, who do have not enough time but want to experience the wildlife in Tanzania. Mikumi National Park is easily accessible from Dar es Salaam, and ideal for someone with little time for a safari but wants to view a wide range of wild animals.
3 days Mikumi safari is short but you can have a chance to see the big four, most accessible from Dar es Salaam. Within its 3230 square. km it’s set between the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the south-east. Mikumi hosts buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons zebras, leopards crocodiles, and many more just to mention a few.
Depart Dar early morning to Mikumi, on arrival lunch at the camp, Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight Mikumi Wildlife Camp which you can watch a procession of animals visiting the waterholes either from the comfort of your own verandah, having a cool drink at the bar or whilst dining.
Full day game drive in Mikumi or two half day game drive o/n Mikumi Wildlife Camp. Whilst on safari, you can see a rich variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of giraffe, buffalo and elephants. If you are lucky you may also be able to spot lions, leopards and African wild dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland and antelope. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety.
After breakfast, short game drive in the park, and then drive back to Dar arriving late in the afternoon. Whilst on safari, you can see a rich variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of giraffe, buffalo and elephants.
